Tuition, Prayers, and a Cassette Player Miracle

mom

Just finished spending quality time with my parents after a long day of work. Mumi noticed that I was so tired due to the long commute going home and began reminiscing about little “Ninin,” whom she raised, to cheer me up. Memories slowly came back as if they happened just yesterday. Oh yeah! We’re having a Flashback Monday!

She recalled that I was really persistent (I’d say “naning”) when I was still a little girl. She asked me if I remembered the time when I was in my elementary years (probably between Grade 1 and 2) and it was time to pay the tuition fee at school. She then recalled our conversation, and it went like this:

DAY 1:
Ninin: Ma, tingbayad na sa tuition.
Mumi: Wala pa ta’y kwarta. Pag-pray sa, Day.

DAY 2:
Ninin: Ma, tingbayad na sa tuition. Kinahanglan bayaran para makatake ko ug exam.
Mumi: Wala pa ta’y kwarta. Pag-pray sa.

DAY 3:
Ninin: Ma, tingbayad na sa tuition!
Mumi: Pag-pray sa lage.
Ninin: Hagbay ra nakong inampo! Magpa-maid nalang ko!!!
Mumi: Unya, unsa man imong nahibaw-an buhaton kung magpa-maid naman lang ka? (Little did I know that my Mumi was laughing on the inside but just holding it in.)
Ninin: Manghugas plato, manilhig, mamplantsa…

I clearly remember that I was really upset that Mumi did not give me any money to pay my tuition, mainly because I didn’t want to miss any exams. I studied hard then—you know, the “naning” type 😛

Mumi continued talking and couldn’t help but compare me and my kuya, who was not bothered at all whether our tuition could be paid on time or not. Actually, kuya and I are exact opposites. He’s silent, I’m not. I’m “naning,” he’s not. I worry, he doesn’t. But our parents love us the same 🙂

Going back to our little story…

The next day, after I told my Mumi about my “magpa-maid” plan, she went to my uncle to pawn our cassette player (dili pa uso ang CD player back then) just to pay for our tuition fee. Mumi told my uncle about our “magpa-maid” conversation, and he laughed. My kind uncle then told my Mumi that he would pay for our tuition fee—no need to pawn our cassette player. God is good! He answered little Ninin’s prayer. Me and my kuya were able to take the exam on time!

God bless you, Uncle, wherever you are! xoxo

This Flashback Monday story made my day and put a smile on my face. Real-life stories (first-hand experiences) like this help me remember that GOD is really, really good!

The reason I’m sharing this story is to remind us that there is NO NEED TO WORRY. Why worry when you can pray? Our Heavenly Father has us in His hands.

Let me leave you with this verse: Matthew 6:25–34

So friends, stop worrying and allow God to supply all your needs and rescue you!

Nyt2. Xoxo ♥
