God Directs My Steps

What If I’m Afraid of Missing God’s Will?

I’m afraid of many things—afraid of heights, afraid of drowning, scared of spiders, cockroaches, and a lot more. But lately, I’ve been thinking deeply and realized that my greatest fear is being away from the center of God’s will.

But this realization also led me to a comforting truth: God directs our steps. Even when we don’t have everything figured out, we can trust Him to guide us, redirect us, and lead us according to His will.

One of my greatest fears is making the wrong decision and somehow stepping outside God’s will for my life. But I’m learning that following God isn’t about living in constant fear that one wrong decision will ruin His plans for me.

Instead, I want to keep my heart surrendered to Him, seek Him through prayer and His Word, and trust that when I need redirection, He is able to redirect me.

What Does It Mean That God Directs Our Steps?

Then, out of the blue, I was led to Proverbs 16:9:

“The mind of a person plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”

This verse doesn’t mean we should stop making plans. We can dream, prepare, make decisions, and move forward in faith. But ultimately, we surrender those plans to God and remain open to His direction.

Sometimes His direction may look like an open door. Other times, it may come through a closed one, a change of plans, or a season we never expected. What gives me peace is knowing that I don’t have to see the entire path for God to direct my next step.

This reminds me that while I can make plans for my life, I can surrender those plans to God and trust Him to direct my steps. I may not always understand where He is leading, but I can trust the One who sees the entire journey.

I was also reminded that I don’t have to live in fear of missing God. If my heart remains surrendered to Him, I can trust that He is able to redirect my steps when I need it and lead me back on course.

Trust God With the Next Step

Maybe you don’t know exactly where God is leading you right now. Maybe you’re standing at a crossroads, wondering which direction to take.

You don’t have to understand the entire journey before taking the next step in faith. Make your plans, seek God’s wisdom, surrender them to Him, and keep walking.

God directs our steps—and when we need redirection, He is faithful to lead us.

Sharing this in case someone else needs it too.
